URI TZAIG

 

Uri Tzaig was born in Kiryat Gat, Israel, in 1965. He is a graduate of the Jerusalem School of Visual Theater. An interdisciplinary artist and writer, Tzaig has taught at Zurich University, the San Francisco Art Institute, Camera Obscura (Jerusalem) and Bezalel - Academy of Art and Design. At present he is head of the Textile Design Department at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, and teaches at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam. Tzaig has exhibited widely in Europe, Japan and the United States, including at the Venice Biennale 95, Manifesta I (Rotterdam, 1996), Documenta X (Kassel, Germany, 1996) and the Israel Museum. He was the head of the weaving department in Sidreh 2012-2013. With new colors and innovative designs he set a new Era in the production of carpets in the Negev. Till now his designs are the most requested ones.
